Terms of Service
Welcome to Skeptral. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the platform, its free validations, its paid dossiers, and any subscriptions. By using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing Skeptral, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to bind your organisation (if applicable) to these Terms.
2. What the Verdicts Are (and Aren't)
Skeptral's verdicts, scores, and dossiers are automated opinions produced by AI models, offered as research aids to help you stress-test an idea. They are:
- Not financial or investment advice. A "scale" verdict is not a recommendation to invest money, and a "kill" verdict is not a valuation of your work.
- Not legal, tax, or professional advice of any kind.
- Not a guarantee of business outcomes. Ideas that score well can fail; ideas that score badly can succeed. The decision, and the risk, stay yours.
AI models can be wrong, out of date, or confidently mistaken. Verify anything material before acting on it.
3. Purchases: The €29 Dossier
The dossier is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
- Delivery: your dossier is built on demand and typically delivered within minutes at a private link. The build runs a full research pipeline, so short delays can happen under load.
- The link is the credential. Your dossier lives at a private, unguessable link that is yours alone. Anyone holding the link can read the dossier, so keep it safe and share it deliberately. Your Stripe receipt is your proof of purchase if the link is ever lost.
- Support: reply to your Stripe purchase receipt and it reaches the founder directly.
- If the build fails: our promise is simple, we rebuild it by hand or refund you in full. Reply to your receipt and pick one.
- Refunds: honoured in line with the delivery promise above. When a purchase is refunded, the pitch you stored with it is scrubbed, as described in the Privacy Policy.
EU/EEA and UK consumers: withdrawal right
The dossier is digital content delivered immediately after payment. By purchasing, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal lapses once the dossier has been delivered. This does not limit the failed-build promise above: an undelivered or failed dossier is always rebuilt or refunded in full.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
Paid plans meter the heavy computational work (full generation runs) through a monthly subscription.
- Monthly allowances reset each billing cycle and do not roll over.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing cycle; cancelling stops future charges and your plan runs to the end of the paid period.
- Subscription fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise; your mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.
- We may suspend accounts with outstanding balances or fraudulent payment methods.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
- Your output (your IP): you own the rights, title, and interest in the dossiers, reports, and other output generated from your prompts, to the fullest extent we can grant them.
- The platform (our IP): we retain all rights to Skeptral itself, the validation pipeline, the scoring methodology, and all associated branding.
- Your pitch stays yours. A purchased pitch is stored only to build your dossier, is never added to the public idea pool, and is never used to train anything.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or the anonymous free allowance (for example by rotating IPs or automating free validations at scale).
- Submit content that is unlawful or that you have no right to share.
- Overload, disrupt, probe, or attempt to reverse-engineer the Skeptral infrastructure or its AI pipelines.
- Resell or misrepresent Skeptral's output as an independent professional assessment.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Skeptral is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for business losses, lost profits, or decisions made in reliance on automated verdicts or dossiers. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits the mandatory rights you hold as a consumer.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where those rules allow it.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last Updated" date above, and for material changes we'll give reasonable notice on the site or by email. Continuing to use Skeptral after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to legal@skeptral.com. Skeptral is an independent service operated by its founder.
